Required Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED and some college level course-work. In lieu of degree, three years of progressively responsible clerical experience. Three years of experience with physician billing process within a physician's office or academic practice setting. Familiarity with medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree. Completion of courses in medical terminology, ICD-9, and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Coding. Knowledge of insurance company reimbursement policies. Certified procedural coder.
Brief Description of Duties: The Clerical Specialist will provide support for the billing process for the physician practice, inclusive of coding, charge capture, and securing required documentation for maximum reimbursement.
Special Notes: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
