Required Qualifications: BS/BA Biology Degree. Experience in human stem cells and molecular biology. Experience with mouse models and animal handling. One year of full-time related lab experience to include, tissue culture, immunohistochemical techniques experience and flow cytometry, and advanced experience in use of microscope. Ability to work independently on projects and ability to perform PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction).
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree. Experience with hematopoietic stem cells, bone marrow and cord blood stem cells.

Brief Description of Duties: The Research Technician will conduct studies in a newly funded research project.
  • Experience in umbilical cord CD 34+ cells.
  • Prepare virus stocks via the expression and purification of virus within host cells; gene and protein expression; these analyses include phase contrast and confocal microscopy, protein purification and analysis by flow cytometry, Western Blotting, and ELISA, and RNA isolation and amplification by quantitative real-time TaqMan PCR.
  • Work with mouse models/animal studies.
  • Assist with manuscript and grant writing.
  • Duties will also involve assisting in supervision of laboratory facilities, including preparation of reagents, maintenance of cell culture, ordering of supplies, and general lab maintenance.

Special Notes: This is a full time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
