Required Qualifications: There are no education or experience requirements, however, applicants must be able to read, speak and understand English. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Applicants must submit their operator's license number on their application form for a motor vehicle check. Ability to remain courteous and tactful in stressful situations. Must be able to perform mandatory overtime.
Preferred Qualifications:

Brief Description of Duties: The Parking Service Attendant will write parking summonses for illegal parkers on campus and similar related duties. The selected candidate will be responsible for:
Parking Violations: Patrol parking areas to identify vehicles in violation of campus parking rules and regulations. Issue campus summons, as well as the towing and booting of vehicles in violation.
Meter Collection: Assists in parking meter collection.
Special Events: Provides traffic and parking control for campus events. This includes setting up barriers and blocking off roadways and parking areas.
Motorist Assistance: Provide assistance to the campus community, including but not limited to jump starts of disabled vehicles, slim jims to unlock vehicle doors, air for deflated tires and transportation to a service station for gasoline.
  • Report all roadway safety problems to Parking Services Supervisor; and maintain records of parking spaces on campus and periodically conducts parking space counts.
  • Completes necessary paperwork to release vehicles from the impound lot. Transports individuals from the Parking Services Office to the impound lot to facilitate the release of vehicles.

Special Notes: This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, shift (other), 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. hours may vary. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference.

Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such are required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are cancelled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
