Required Qualifications: Per Civil Service Standards and Specifications. Must have taken and passed required Civil Service examination and be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service list.
Preferred Qualifications: Solid knowledge in computer applications and Microsoft Office. Business or educational college background. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are important to communicate with students, faculty and staff.

Brief Description of Duties: The Keyboard Specialist is the sole support for the Academic Affairs of the SHTM. With ever increasing student enrollment and faculty - the need for support in this area has been acute. There are serious repercussions for untimely paperwork (admissions, graduation, course scheduling, certification processing, etc.) all of which directly impact the school's revenue and reputation.
  • Administrative support using typing for University electronic systems which could include PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office, email, etc. to Academic and Student Affairs in the Dean's Office of School of Health Technology and Management.
  • Process/type confidential correspondence, documents, spreadsheets, or other written materials using Microsoft Office and or email. Copy, file, fax or mail as required. Prepare, sort and mail Departmental correspondence, program information, program brochures and other pertinent student mailings. 
  • Create and maintain proper filing systems, paper and electronic, and ensure security of sensitive documents or materials related to academic and student affairs including admissions, orientation, registration, grades, graduation, scheduling and room requests. Maintain appointment calendars as needed.
  • Type or assist in the preparation of reports, documents, information packets for admissions, orientation, graduation, and room requests. Attend SHTM/program functions as required.
  • Answer, route, or handle telephone calls and or messages, handle walk-ins including the campus community and route to appropriate staff/office. Retrieve voicemails, respond to routine inquiries, and take messages as appropriate. Provide customer service at reception desk. Receive and distribute mail.
  • Be familiar with university and school policies, procedures, deadlines and how they relate to academic and student affairs, graduation, etc. 
  • Assist with supervision of student assistants and/or work study students assigned to work in the area.

Special Notes: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference.
