Required Qualifications: Associate's degree in Medical Radiography. License and Registration (AART) required. In lieu of Associate's degree, completion of an accredited ultrasound/vascular program will be considered. Two years of experience in complex radiographic procedures in the specialty of venous/arterial duplex at a skilled technical level or equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Additional years of experience in performing venous/arterial duplex ultrasound studies. Registered Vascular Technologist.

Brief Description of Duties: The Vascular Technician will perform complex venous/arterial ultrasound studies. The selected candidate will:
  • Perform high quality carotid, aorta, peripheral arterial, renal artery and venous duplex studies. Perform high quality non-invasive vascular evaluations. Prepare a well written preliminary report of all studies by the end of the day.
  • Accommodate the timely scheduling of patient appointments to provide the highest level of service for outpatients and referring physicians.
  • Maintain effective, ongoing communication with other staff members and the Technical Director.
  • Assist in correctly completing other duties, including filing, mailing reports, completing billing, scheduling appointments, and preparing patient charts.
  • Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms and work areas, ensuring that rooms are properly stocked with necessary supplies, removing soiled linens, cleaning equipment, and examination room after each patient. Communicate with appropriate venders regarding the maintenance and repair of the ultrasound equipment.
  • Assist in the implementation of ICVAL compliance renewal by gathering relevant information for statistical analysis. Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
  • Take an active and contributory role in new trends in Vascular Lab.

Special Notes: This is a part-time position, 32 hours per week, shift (day). The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. *This position is located at Tech Park, East Setauket, NY. Night and weekend work is required.
