Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field. Minimum of 3 years experience supporting/implementing applications in a client server environment. Knowledge of relational databases with experience in reporting tools in relational database environment. Demonstrated understanding of system analysis , development, upgrades and testing. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Products. Demonstrated ability to work in team environment as well as ability to work independently. Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize work load. Exceptional organizational skill's. Excellent oral and written communicational skills. In lieu of Bachelors Degree, Associated Degree with 5 years experience as stated above.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a hospital or healthcare IT environment. Experience with hospital information systems (e.g. Cerner, Siemens, Eclipsys. Experience or knowledge of Patient Management. Patient Accounting and/or HIM Systems. Knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices. Additional technical, leadership or Project Management experience.

Brief Description of Duties:
  • The candidate will develop, maintain, and support the administrative systems for which the department is responsible, including Patient Management, Patient Accounting and Health Information Management. The candidate must be adept at investigating and resolving application problems. Participation in system upgrades and testing will be required along with the ability to effectively communicate with end users.
  • Maintain stability and reliability of all systems in Administrative Group's area, including Patient Management, Patient Accounting and Health Information Management.
  • Investigate and resolve application problems. Review, analyze and implement change/enhancement requests to test and production systems as well as communicate effectively with end users.
  • Create and distribute reports and files of data as requested.
  • Keep management informed of project status and issues as they arise.
  • Follow departmental procedures in tracing tasks. Help Desk assignments and creating Change Control Requests.
  • Provide oncall/recall support as required.

Special Notes: Full time day shift 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. All Hospital positions are subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. Please note Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment.
