Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry or Structure Biology. Two years of full time experience with PET and/or PET/CT protocol creation and image acquisition, image reconstruction, data transfer, storage, and archiving.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Structure Biology, or a related field.

Brief Description of Duties: The Senior Research Support Specialist will oversee general operations of the laboratory, collect and analyze data/research results, to conduct tests using specialized methods for data collection and interpretation.
  • Under the direction of the Project Investigator, the incumbent will provide laboratory/research support to conduct research experiment in the field PET and/or PET/CT.
  • Blood drawing, centrifugation, and processing of plasma samples.
  • Data collection and analyze research results. Determine which methodology to use in order to complete analyses.
  • Oversee general operations of the laboratory and become familiar with matters of operational compliance. Ensure all subordinate technicians as well as post doctorates, graduate and undergraduate students, visiting faculty, etc. are working within the scope of compliance/regulation (e.g. have met all training and safety requirements). Coordination of laboratory staff scheduling and supply chain management.
  • Participation/continuation in development of laboratory specifics, SOP's, and protocols. Orient all full time employees/students in the laboratory. Ensure everyone is up-to date and staff is serviced accordingly.
  • Maintenance of equipment as necessary in the laboratory, which may include cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining the laboratory.
  • Assist with ordering supplies.
  • Prepare reports and draft manuscripts based on the collected data.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include attending scientific conferences and meetings.

Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Travel may be required to scientific conferences and meetings.
