Required Qualifications: Associate degree and two years administrative/supervisory experience. Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills. Office Management skills, medical terminology, purchasing/budget experience and proficiency in computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in insurance authorization and denials. Healthcare experience.

Brief Description of Duties:
  • Perform administrative support duties for assigned LCEC MD's and staff.
  • Schedule and monitor MD's calendars.
  • Maintain IDX, SMS-UHIS, IDX-RAD system, answer telephone calls, update departmental telephone lists, order pagers for attending.
  • Pick up and distribute physician paychecks.
  • Order refreshments when applicable.
  • Proficient in Cerner, Power chart, Eclipse, Patient keeper, e-scription and dictation and any new programs used with division.
  • Maintain current knowledge with ICD-9, CPT coding, HCFA 1500 forms and HIPPA compliant.
  • Utilizes Lawson System and other systems to purchase supplies and equipment specific to department.
  • Inferfaces with the Purchasing Department and Finance for the processing of purchase requests.
  • Tracking and monitoring budget as necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Special Notes: Shift: Full-time Day Position 830am - 5pm for INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY. All Hospital positions are subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. Please note Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment.
