Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent with a minimum of four years Postdoctoral research experience in an academic environment in Biomedical Sciences. Experience in molecular biology methods in cancer research. Capable of functioning as a student mentor with strong organizational and administrative skills. Excellent communication skills as demonstrated by lead authorship of published research communications, experience with grant applications. Record of grant support at national level.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstration of academic capability such as prior research experience and productivity, and current productivity. Prior history of obtaining R01-level federal support for cancer research. Teaching experience.
Responsibilities & Requirements: The Associate Professor/Professor will serve as the Principal Investigator and Director of a laboratory that will focus on basic and/or translational biomedical cancer research in the field of experimental Pathology. There will be substantial commitment to writing of manuscripts and grant applications and training of graduate students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows in research methodology.
With the recent approval of the NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant to the University and the announcement of the largest gift ever to public higher education in the State of New York, Stony Brook Medical School is embarking on a transformational expansion of the biomedical and clinical research enterprise.
