Required Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent formal education with strong literacy, numeracy and computer proficiency. Three years progressively responsible full time administrative experience, answering medically related phones in a high volume area, managing calendars and providing administrative support of clinical staff. Experience scheduling office and operating room procedures. Radiology pre-authorizations, Workers Comp and No fault forms experience. Experience working with Microsoft Office and IDX Flocast.
Preferred Qualifications: Customer Service experience. Knowledge of scheduling patients for ENT clinic, ICD-9 and CPT code. Referral and Prior Authorization knowledge. Experience in medical transcription, scheduling of ENT office procedures, testing and obtaining medical records. Scheduling of surgeries and all necessary pre-op and follow-up paperwork, entering of events on physician Lotus calendars. Excellent organizational skills.
Brief Description of Duties: The Administrative Assistant in the Department of Otolaryngology/ENT will manage a high volume of scheduling patients for surgery. Assist with phone calls and scheduling of office appointments and testing. Manage medical office and patient related duties in a professional and empathetic manner.
Other Duties: As assigned (transcriptions, filing, phone messages, etc.).
Special Notes: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. *This position is located at Tech Park, East Setauket, NY. Night and weekend work is required. Occasional travel to various satellite facilities in Suffolk County may be required.
