Required Qualifications: Per Civil Service Standards and Specifications. Must have taken and passed the specific job related Civil Service exam and be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service list. Must possess, keep and maintain appropriate valid NYS Drivers' license and a Class B CDL license; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Applicants must submit their operator's license number on their application form for a motor vehicle check. Ability to perform manual labor, including heavy lifting of 50+ lbs. Must Possess CDL within six months to retain employment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Brief Description of Duties: The Stores Clerk will perform various clerical and manual activities in the receipt, storage and distribution of goods, materials, equipment and records in warehouse. Stores consist of a wide variety of items, including tools, paint, hardware, building supplies, construction materials, automotive and machine supplies, replacement parts, perishable and non-perishable items, such as household and office supplies and equipment, printing supplies, forms and records.
  • Receive store and distribute goods, materials, equipment and records in a warehouse. Rotate stock in storage areas as required. Verify that orders received conform to the purchase order.
  • Maintain perpetual inventory records using bar code scanners and computerized inventory program to monitor and control inventory stock levels. Maintain records or logs of items shipped, delivered or received. Prepare various reports related to inventory, material received and distributed quantity and quality of materials ordered, etc.
  • Load, unload and physically handle equipment, furniture, supplies, etc. This may require the operations of fork-lifts, warehouse equipment, vans and trucks.
  • Deliver and pick-up material both on campus and to the campus community. Some of these may be on pallets, requiring a larger truck.
  • Assist in planning layout of storage areas for the safety of employees, proper storage of goods and maximum utilization of space. Ensure material is labeled properly for ease of locating and distributing.
  • Maintain records of physical inventory (i.e., location and status of equipment and furniture) and perform physical inventory updates.
  • Evaluate clerical procedures, processes, forms and documents and make recommendations for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

Special Notes: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference.
