Required Qualifications: MD/DO degree. Completion of Emergency Medicine residency. Board Certification/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine. Eligible for/currently hold a New York State Medical License.
Preferred Qualifications: Graduate teaching, research and administrative/committee experience.
Responsibilities & Requirements: The selected candidate will serve as an attending physician, Department of Emergency Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital and/or Peconic Bay Medical Center; teach and supervise residents and medical students; to contribute to a successful research program, and serve in an administrative capacity as required.
The Department also provides attending coverage of the Emergency Department at Peconic Bay Medical Center, a community hospital with 35,000 annual visits, approximately 25 miles away. Positions are
available at both locations with shared coverage encouraged. Our 30 residents (three year program) train at both ED locations as do our medical students. We have a nationally recognized Emergency Medicine research program with numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborative research. Candidates may participate in the further development of post-residency training programs in ultrasound, emergency radiology, EMS, critical care medicine and clinical research. There are opportunities for administrative service on various DepartmenUHospital/University committees.
Special Notes: This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: 02/01/2013 (or ASAP). **Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
