Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree. In lieu of the degree, a combination of directly related education and experience totaling two years may be considered. Three years of full time experience in clinical research with fundamental knowledge of medical and scientific terminology. Excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written). Computer skills, knowledge of databases.
Preferred Qualifications: BA/BS. Experience with coordinating multiple clinical trials and the IRB/regulatory process. Proficiency with computerized clinical trial management systems (Velos eResearch) as well as VISIO and TELEform and data analysis software including SAS and SPSS.

Brief Description of Duties: The Clinical Research Assistant will have the primary responsibility for coordinating the day-to-day data management operations, communications and clinical center interactions for studies in the field of cardiac arrest resuscitation. The Clinical Research Assistant will participate in the development, testing, operation and maintenance of a computerized data management system to track data flow and collect administrative data. This person will monitor recruitment, retention, and data quality by generating weekly reports and participate in data cleaning and data analyses using SAS or SPSS as well as maintain the manual of procedures; create a study handbook, and participate in preparation of study progress reports and manuscripts. The selected candidate will:
  • Coordinate the day-to-day data management operations, communications and clinical center interactions for Stony Brook as well as other hospitals collaborating as part of a multicenter research network. Oversee all data processing and management aspects of the trial.
  • Serve as data adjudicator, prepare and transmit edit statements to the Clinical Centers and update the database once resolutions are obtained.
  • Participate in the development, testing, operation and maintenance of a computerized data management system to track data flow and collect administrative data.
  • Set-up, implement, provide and update written documentation for procedures to organize and manage forms and electronic data capture and clinical trials materials for clinical sites.
  • Use data management software to monitor recruitment, retention, and data quality by generating weekly reports for the study leadership and periodic reports for the data safety and monitoring board, clinical sites, IRB and sponsor. Generate weekly reports, participate in data cleaning and data analyses using SAS or SPSS.
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, site visit and meeting binders, coordinate the receipt and review of materials submitted for certification of trial personnel and centers.

Special Notes: This is a full time position, 20-40 hours per week, hours vary. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Travel may be required to collaborating sites.
