Required Qualifications: MD or MD/PhD degree. Board Certified in Anesthesiology and eligible for or have a license to practice medicine in New York State. Prior experience in a leadership position. Must be eligible for a senior faculty appointment in accordance with the criteria established by the School of medicine for appointment, promotion, and tenure (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure ).
Preferred Qualifications: Strong academic credentials evidenced by a track record of successful extramural funding and scholarly accomplishments; a training track record that documents a commitment to medical educations and mentoring of new faculty and fellows; experience with the management of a complex clinical practice within a medical center setting and in the oversight of clinical, educational, and research budgets; possess the ability to establish effective operational practices that create an environment that supports the missions of the Department. Demonstrate the highest level of ethical conduct and a commitment to diversity; possess a track record of recruiting and retaining outstanding clinical, educational, and research (basic and translational) faculty; strong interpersonal and communication skills; a demonstrated ability to provide leadership within a complex organization; demonstrated experience in budgetary and personnel management.
Responsibilities & Requirements: The Department Chair has overall responsibility for advancing the clinical, educational, and research missions of the Department.
Special Notes: This is a tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: July 2013. **Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
