Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner and certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Three years of full time work experience in General Internal Medicine at a large multi-specialty clinic or hospital. Registered Nurse.
Preferred Qualifications: Two additional years of oncology clinical and or administrative experience. Familiarity with NCCN guidelines and performing phlebotomy, conducting spirometry tests and EKGs. Bilingual Spanish.

Brief Description of Duties: The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the following duties:
  • In collaboration with the Clinical Administrator and Physician Staff, oversee and coordinate oncology services at the Long Island World Trade Center (WTC) Program. Generate certification, authorization, and diagnostic plan paperwork for WTC Program cancer patients.
  • Conduct Monitoring Examinations for the WTC Medical Monitoring and Treatment patients under the supervision of the Director or designee.
  • Provide treatment to the WTC Program patients for WTC-covered conditions including, but not limited to, aero-digestive diseases, psychological and social problems.
  • Active participation in our Collaborative Care Model of healthcare delivery; make referrals as appropriate to other health care providers and/or consult with Physicians for further definitive therapy.
  • Perform necessary administrative duties associated with the WTC Program, including but not limited to, completing final letters, Workers Compensation, SSI, LODI, and attorney requested forms and letters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Medical Director or designee.

Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. *This position is primarily located at the Satellite Office in Islandia, NY. Some travel may be required between other clinical sites.
