Required Qualifications: Associates Degree plus two years experience in a hospital billing office or in lieu of degree, five years experience in a hospital billing office. User end knowledge of computer Software packages, i.e., database packages, spreadsheets and word processing applications. Excellent oral, written and highly developed interpersonal interaction communication skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree in Accounting, an in depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, i.e. Word, Excel and Access. Experience in cash posting and deposits within a billing office, knowledge of Siemens Systems and Hospital Cashier experience.

Brief Description of Duties:
  • Perform all cash reconciliation functions at the direction of SL-3 Supervisor.
  • Post cash payments and adjustments to Hospital Patient Accounts.
  • Supervise staff including signing off on timesheets and evaluations.
  • Analyze and address new issues as they become apparent and work with the SL-3 and or Manger to incorporate new procedures as necessary.
  • Assist the SL-3 in unit staff training and make recommendations to improve policy and procedures for the unit as well as the office.

Special Notes: Shift: Full-time day 830am-430pm. All Hospital positions are subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. Please note Stony Brook University Medical Center is a smoke free environment.
