Required Qualifications: Must be able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
Preferred Qualifications: Past experience with cleaning operating rooms, cleaning of patient care areas and transport of patients. Good communication skills are essential when dealing with the public. Past experience with cleaning cataract and other surgical trays for processing to central sterile is a plus.

Brief Description of Duties:
  • Responsible for cleaning patient care areas in the Ambulatory Surgery Center's operating rooms and transporting patient's to and from the recovery room for discharge.
  • Cleaning and turning over patient care areas for surgery in recovery, post-op and pre-op and non-patient care areas.
  • Clerical duties as well as front desk arrival of patients and directing patients to scheduled locations and updating family and visitors to the status of the surgical patient.
  • Cleaning and assembly of surgical instrumentation for cataract surgery.

Other Duties: All other duties as assigned.

Special Notes: Shift: 1 Full-time evening position 1500-2330. Pass days are Saturday, Sunday flexible weekend. Please note Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment.

This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
