Required Qualifications: Associates degree in Computer Science or a related field. Minimum two years experience with MS SQL Server database management system. Knowledge of various operating systems such as Windows and Unix. Working knowledge of the MS Office product suite. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detailed oriented, customer focused and strong organizational skills. In lieu of a college degree a minimum or three years experience as stated above.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience and knowledge in the development and deployment of medical and/or healthcare applications. Knowledge of Java, Javescript, NET and various other client/server programming languages and experience in the Healthcare environment.

Brief Description of Duties:
  • Participate in the maintenance and support of existing MS SQL database environments.
  • Participate in the planning and coordination of the database server upgrade and maintenance process.
  • Assist in the definition and development of Client/Server programming standards especially as they related to database utilization.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new database technology and current industry standards and help ensure that the hospital environment is both current and functional.
  • Provide database support to our application and customer areas as required.

Special Notes: Shift: Full-time day position. 830am-5pm. Pass days are Saturday and Sunday. All Hospital positions are subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. Please note Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment.
