Required Qualifications: Ph.D. degree, preferably in Biology, Biochemistry or Biological Sciences. Prior publications and research skills using and investigating RNA viruses, molecular cloning, expression and purification of viral proteins, and the study of intracellular signaling pathways. A full understanding of equipment used in molecular biology, microbiology and molecular genetics.
Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral experience in cell signaling, cellular channels, and viral regulation of cellular pathways, receptor responses and miRNA regulation.

Brief Description of Duties: The incumbent will be responsible for Molecular Virology: Influenza Virus Pathogenesis (Erich R. Mackow, Molecular Genetics and Microbiology) and the following:
  • Perform all aspects of DNA cloning, RNA analysis, channel function analysis, protein analysis and analysis of cellular pathway specific responses and independent data collection.
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Literature searches and writing of results.
  • Presentation of data at national or international meetings.
  • Direction of graduate students and technicians within the lab toward a further understanding of the viral signaling pathway regulation.
  • Reagent and equipment maintenance and acquisition.

Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Some nights and weekends may be required. Travel will be required for this position.
