THIS POSTING IS NOT CURRENT !!! Required Qualifications: MUST BE A CURRENT STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY AND/OR RF EMPLOYEE ONLY. Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related science. Familiarity with plus strand RNA viruses. Background working with small animal models of infectious diseases. Preferred Qualifications: Strong background in immunology and pathogenesis of poliovirus. Experience in Molecular Cloning, Cell Biology, and especially Cell Engineering with respect to creating stable mammalian expression cell lines. Brief Description of Duties: The incumbent will generate and test new viral vectors and expression cell lines for the development of novel poliovirus vaccines. The work involves molecular cloning of various mammalian expression constructs and viral vectors, creating and maintaining stable expression cell lines, production and purification of viruses to be tested as vaccines in mice. The incumbent will act in a supervisory role for one Research Technician.
Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. 10 day Internal search open to current Stony Brook University and RF employees only.
