Stony Brook University Medical Center is the academic and regional Medical Center where Long Island's most seriously injured and ill patients receive highly advanced care. In keeping with its mission to pursue excellence in patient care, education, research and community service, University Hospital continues to expand and improve its patient services. University Hospital cares for approximately 27,000 inpatients and 47,000 Emergency Department outpatients annually. Another 510,000 outpatients receive ambulatory diagnosis and treatment in the medical center.
