The Department of Environmental Health and Safety is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of the campus community as well as assisting the University in maintaining compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and standards. The department is comprised of specialists in occupational safety, fire safety, industrial hygiene, radiation safety, environmental management, laboratory safety and healthcare safety. The department's mission is accomplished by providing and promoting management commitment and employee participation, identification and assessment of hazards, evaluation and recommendation of hazard controls, safety and health education and training, emergency management planning and emergency response. In the event of an emergency, EH&S staff are on call 24 hours a day.
