Faculty and professional employees are expected to fulfill their respective responsibilities for the development and support of the educational mission of the University, adhering to standards of scholarship and conduct appropriate to the dignity of the enterprise. In addition, the New York State Public Officers Law establishes a statutory compulsion to observe specific ethical prescriptions. These prescriptions emphasize the need to avoid conflicts of interest in the operation of state administrative and regulatory processes and in the expenditure of public funds. As a condition of employment, all University officers and employees must file at the time of employment and through the appointment process a statement with the New York Secretary of State acknowledging that they have received a copy of the Public Officers Law, Sections 73 through 78 (Chapter 1012, Laws of New York, 1965) and that they have read and will comply with its provisions.
