701.08 Sexual Harassment


The University is fully committed to providing a work and learning environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.

Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when:

Department chairs, directors, administrators, managers and supervisors are charged with the responsibility of maintaining a professional work environment in which all forms of harassment are prohibited.

Further, the use of the student-teacher professional relationship to seek personal relationships is an abuse of power and is specifically prohibited; individuals who fail to adhere to these guidelines will be subject to the penalties attached to unprofessional behavior.

Any member of the Campus community who believes he or she has been subjected to harassment may initiate an informal or formal complaint with the Office of Diversity and Affirmative Action. Making a complaint does not prohibit the complainant from seeking help from outside sources, such as the EEOC, police, or private legal counsel.
