Faculty Appointments
Faculty members hold continuing, term, or temporary appointments.
Term Appointments
are generally for one to three years, subject to renewal and to requirements regarding notification of nonrenewal. In the event a term appointment is not to be renewed upon expiration, the appointee is entitled to receive written notification by the President or the President’s designee.
Temporary Appointments
are usually made when Faculty service is expected to be part-time or voluntary, when the appointment is anticipated to be for one year or less, or when replacing faculty on approved leaves. Temporary appointments may be terminated at any time.
Tenured Faculty
hold continuing appointments that are not affected by changes in academic rank and continue until resignation, retirement, or termination.
In addition to University policies and procedures regarding promotion and tenure, the Health Sciences Center schools and its library follow guidelines applicable to all units in the center.
