FUND RAISING AND P 700
SOLICITATION ON CAMPUS

Issued by: Office of Vice President for University Affairs
Approved: July, 1989

Only fund raising or solicitation of funds that results in a benefit to the University is permitted, unless specifically authorized by the President or designee. Such events must be consistent with the missions, goals and mandates of the University.

All fund raising activities, except student fund raising events with projected revenues of less than $500, must be reported to and coordinated through the Office of the Vice President for University Affairs. In this way, conflict is avoided among fund raising programs while donor solicitation is facilitated and relationships with potential major donors are fostered.

Solicitation and fund raising to support student activities and projects may not be undertaken on campus without written authorization from the Vice President for Student Affairs or the Associate Provost for Research.

Business or other commercial solicitation not directly related to University operations is permitted on campus only if the vendor, organization, group or individual has obtained a permit from the Faculty Student Association.

PROCEDURE: USE OF CAMPUS MAIL FOR SOLICITATION

The campus mail services may be used for University approved solicitation or fund raising. Use of campus mail services for unapproved solicitation is specifically prohibited.

The University does not honor requests from individuals or organizations outside the University community for mailing lists of faculty, staff, students or alumni.

PROCEDURE: RESERVING BUILDING SPACE OR EQUIPMENT

If the use of equipment or building space is required, the fund raising group or individual must complete and submit a Facilities Use Request form which is available in the Office of the Director of Student Union Activities.
