AFFIRM Committees


PUBLIC EDUCATION: The mission is to inform and appropriately educate on issues related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals. Chair: Norman Weissberg, Ph.D.

CONFERENCES AND PUBLICATIONS: The mission is to encourage conferences and publications as vehicles for calling LGBT issues to the attention of mainstream psychology. Chair: Peter E. Nathan, Ph.D.

MEMBERSHIP: The mission is extend AFFIRM’s membership and influence, both within and beyond APA, nationally and internationally. Chair: Bernard Kliska, Ph.D.

RESEARCH AND EDUCATION: The mission is to encourage research and training in mainstream psychology to pay greater attention to the LGBT literature. Chair: Margaret Crosbie-Burnett, Ph.D.

OUTREACH: The mission is extend the AFFIRM concept to other professions (e.g. social work, psychiatry, teaching, law, nursing, etc.). Chair: David C. Weigle, Ph.D.
