Elisabeth Luce Moore Award in International and Religious Studies
The Elisabeth Luce Moore Award in International and Religious Studies is given to a student who demonstrates outstanding academic potential and gives promise ot contributions of unusual stature to the fostering of international understanding and/or to the appreciation of religious values. The award amount is $500.

William and Teresa Meyer Award for Asian and Middle Eastern Studies
The William and Teresa Meyer Award for Asian and Middle Eastern Studies is given to a student whose major concentration is pertinent to Middle Eastern or Asian Studies (Israel, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Burma, Thailand, China, Korea, and Japan). The award amount is $500.

The Undergraduate Academic Affairs coordinates the selection of students for these University Scholarships and Awards. Students chosen for these awards will be recognized at the annual Undergraduate Recognition Award ceremony scheduled in May.

Students can apply for these awards directly or faculty members can nominate a student for these awards. Please contact Undergraduate Academic Affairs office and they can help guide the recommender and the nominee through the process.

The nomination file should include:

  1. Two letters of support, one of which should come from a faculty advisor
  2. Student resume and a comprehensive personal statement detailing current work and future plans related to the theme of the award
  3. Official or unofficial copy of transcript

Seema Sharma Scholarship
Applications are invited for the award of two scholarships of $500 each during the academic year. All students of the university are elegible.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    GPA of 3.5
    Must pass a course in the India Studies Program with a grade B or above either prior to or during the year of the award.
DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
    Contribution to India-related activites on campus.
    Demonstrated financial need.

Vinny Johnsignh Scholarship
The annual Vinny Johnsingh scholarship is given to a student who demonstrates outstanding academic potential and promise of contribution to the fostering of a better understanding of Indian civilization. The award amount is $700. Send a transcript, two letters of recommendation (at least one from a faculty member), and a detailed statement indicating your current work and future plans in India-related studies and activities.

Awards
The following two awards are available to students interested in India Studies. Candidates must be nominated by a faculty member. Please contact any faculty member if you would like to be considered.
    • Elisabeth Luce Moore Award in International and Religious Studies is given to a student who demonstrates outstanding academic potential and gives promise of contributions of unusual stature to the fostering of international understanding and/or to the appreciation of religious values. The award amount id $500.
    • The William and Theresa Meyer Award for Asian and Middle Eastern Studies is given to a student engaged in any form of humanities or social studies focusing on the Arabic-speaking countries, Israel, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Burma, Thailand, China, Korea and Japan. The award is not primarily for those studying international or current foreign affairs. The award amount is $500.
The nomination file should include:
    1. Two letters of support, one of which should come from a faculty advisor
    2. Student resume and a comprehensive statement detailing current work and future plans related to the theme of the award
    3. Official or unofficial copy of transcript
