“Fruitscapes”
Presented by: Constanza Mallol

Constanza Mallol was born in Santiago, has lived in Chile, Mexico and the U.S. Currently she lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Her painting is informed by the academic realist tradition, the exuberance and color of the Latin American landscape and culture and by great masters like Tamayo, Miguel Angel, Van Gogh and Picasso.

"I like to paint what is alive, a fruit, a body, a flower, that breathes and changes, gives off scent and promises of touch. Time is crucial. I know everything is going to change, fast. If I'm not cool, precise ... I will lose it. I look at each subject to honor its own value and substance. I don't look to evoke hidden meanings, stories or sentiments. I paint what I see. Contemplating, painting and understanding the beauty of an apple brings order to the chaos in my universe."
