Joseph Carver, Assistant Professor; Double Bass, Chamber Music D.M.A., State University of New York at Stony Brook, 1992 Email Joseph Carver at: josephcarver[at]mac.com Inspired by the great jazz bassist Ray Brown, Joe Carver began playing the double bass at the age of 14. During his studies at Eastman,Juilliard, Banff, Marlboro, Tanglewood, Stony Brook, and after, his range expanded to include all aspects of the classical repertoire, from 20th century music to early music performance. Mr. Carver appears frequently at music festivals in the U.S. and France, including Marlboro, Prussia Cove, Les Recontres Musicales de Haute Provence, and Musique a L'Empiri . He has toured and performed with ensembles such as the Musicians from Marlboro, the Takacs and Cherubini String Quartets, Les Arts Florissants, L'Ensemble Intercontemporaine, Les Solistes de Moscouw, L'Ensemble Moderne, and the Bang On A Can All-Stars. Mr. Carver has been a regular member of L'Orchestre des Champs Elysees since 1992.
