The Stony Brook Chorale, conducted by Dr. Timothy Mount, performs major works regularly with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra. The Chorale performs a diverse repertoire of music from Western Europe as well as other cultures. In recent seasons they sang Davide Fanshawe's electifying African Sanctus, and Missa criolla by Ramirez with guest artists, Cantamerica. The Chorale's past concert of Stravinsky's "Oedipus Rex" and Messiaen's rarely performed "Trois petites liturgies" received wide acclaim. Membership in the choir is open, without charge, to the entire University community as well as singers from the surrounding areas. Auditions are held the first Monday of every semester and Chorale rehearses Mondays 7:15-9:45 pm. For more information please call Dr. Mount at 631 632 7329 or email: tmount[at]notes.sunysb.edu More Information about the Choral Conducting Program |
