Music Basics For Kids
Adult Chamber Music Program
About the program
For students in grades 9-12, the Pre-College Program offers coaching and performance opportunities in chamber music and a rich curriculum that includes composition, music theory, and aural skills. Students enrolled in the program are already accomplished musicians in their schools who are looking for new, challenging and exciting experiences that are not offered anyplace else. The Pre-College Program runs during the academic year, from September to June. Classes are held on Saturdays, following the public school calendar. Students admitted into the program are expected to attend regularly.
For students in 3rd through through 8th grade, the Children's Choir/Dalcroze Program is a performance and music theory program designed for elementary and middle school school children. The classes are sponsored by the Department of Music at the University of Stony Brook and are a part of the Pre-College Saturday morning program. The curriculum is based on a well-established musical pedagogy known as Dalcroze Eurhythmics.
For students in Kindergarten and 1st grade, the Music Basics for Kids Program is a great opportunity to introduce them to exciting world of music performance and study, with singing, dancing and playing in a curriculum based in Dalcroze Eurythmics.
