The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra is composed primarily of professional musicians who come from all over the world to pursue advanced studies with the university's prestigious Artists-in-Residence. Concerts are presented on the Main Stage. Join us for informative, free pre-concert lectures presented by Mark Lederway at 7 pm in the Recital Hall.

Program: Elgar, Cockaigne Overture; Penderecki, Concerto for Viola and Orchestra with Elizabeth Kuefler, 2007-2008 Concerto Competition Winner; Beethoven, Symphony No. 5. Conducted by Guillermo Figueroa. Free pre-concert lecture with Mark Lederway at 7:00pm. Tickets: $20/$10

Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra
Program: Mozart, Overture to Le Nozze di Figaro, Reinecke, Concerto for Flute and Orchestra with Angel Hsiao, 2007-2008 Concerto Competition Winner; Shostakovitch, String Quartet No. 8 arranged for string orchestra; Stravinsky, Pulcinella. Orpheus-style concert led by Philip Setzer and William Purvis. Free pre-concert lecture with Mark Lederway at 7:00pm. Tickets: $20/$10

Program: Mendelssohn, Elijah, one of the most beloved oratorios of all time. World class soloists include Grammy Award winning Christine Goerke. Timothy Mount conducts the Stony Brook Chorale, Camerata Singers, and the Long Island Symphonic Choral Association in his final concert on the Main Stage before retirement.
