UNIVERSITY ORCHESTRA

AUDITIONS FOR THE UNIVERSITY ORCHESTRA
Auditions for the University Orchestra are held on the first Tuesday of each semester. Openings for strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion - undergraduate music majors & minors, and qualified non-music majors on the undergraduate and graduate level at Stony Brook University. Openings may exist for gifted High School & USB Pre-college students. For the audition please bring two short contrasting excerpts from a solo or concerto of your choice.
The University Orchestra (MUS262) rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in 0111 Staller, and presents a series of concerts at Staller Center each semester. Children's Concert – “Orchestral Footsteps”
You’ll be able to tap your feet to the rhythms of dance music as you enjoy this one-hour interactive concert with family and friends. The University Orchestra will take you on this musical adventure that dances throughout the orchestra! You’ll be able to listen to the brass, woodwinds, strings and percussion as they perform music from around the world. The concert will also feature the Winner of the 2009 Pre-College Concerto Competition. Where your favorite pair of shoes and you may find yourself featured in the concert! Tickets $10/$5.
