2. Become a Literacy Tutor Volunteer

All you need is a high school diploma, two hours a week, and a desire to teach an adult to read and write or even to speak in English.
1 out of every 7 adults in Suffolk County, or 14% of our countys adult population, do not have the literacy skills to function fully in society.
These individuals cant read a newspaper, fill out a job application, help educate their children, fully participate in community life, and they cant read well enough to vote.
What Can You Do About It? You Can Train to Become a Volunteer Tutor!
Please call the Stony Brook Adult Literacy Center today to find out more about becoming a volunteer tutor and to enroll in the Fall Program.
