01. Administrative (dept moves/closes, employee info, Admin announcements)

1. RESEARCH FOUNDATION Health Insurance and Optional Life Insurance Deductions from July 25th Paychecks

We have just been informed that, as a result of an Oracle system problem, some RF employees (not all were affected)did not have health insurance or optional life insurance deductions (if enrolled) taken out of their July 25th paychecks. The system problem is being corrected and it did not affect any other deductions. An additional deduction will be taken out of the next paycheck (August 8th) to make up for the July 25th missed deduction. If you are affected and have any questions regarding this, call Cori Ribaudo at 632-6163 or e-mail her at Cori.Ribaudo@stonybrook.edu.

04. Conferences/Seminars/Lectures

1. Interdependence Day - September 12, 2003 "ID2003"

While September 11 is a solemn day of reflection and remembrance, a group of international and U.S. leaders have designated September 12th as a day of hope, celebration, and civic participation. At SBU, we will mark the day with art, music, food, speakers, and workshops on the relationships between democracy and global interdependence. We will explore together how our national independence must take into account global interdependencies.
The day seeks to help "activate democracy" on our campus and in our communities through art, music, and workshops. Workshops on "Work in a Globalized World," "Citizenship Skills," "Dialogues across Differences" and a "Primer on Globalization" are designed to provide ideas and resources for becoming active and informed citizens in an interdependent world.
Food, art, and lecture will take place in SAC Ballroom A 12:00-2:15); Workshops will be held in SAC meeting rooms from 2:30-4:15.

For the current phase of studies, we are seeking healthy individuals with no previous history of head or spinal trauma, arachnoid or spinal cysts, hydrocephalus, brain tumors or any contraindication for an MRI exam. The study will involve 1 hour of your time and be completely non-invasive. No injections will be given. There will be no monetary compensation for this study.
