4. Camillus Business Forms - New Contracted Vendor for West Campus University Forms

The Procurement Office is pleased to announce that Camillus Business Forms is the new contracted vendor for all West Campus University forms. Camillus Business Forms has replaced Wallace. The new requisition used to order forms can be found at the following website: www.procurement.stonybrook.edu. The new PO # is 201381Q. Upon ordering a form from Camillus for the first time, complete the forms requisition, attach a sample and mail to the address on the top of the requisition. The requisition must contain a valid account number and an authorized signature. Please remember to send all form requisitions directly to Camillus and not to Wallace or Procurement. 2. Notice to hospital and LISVH state employees - TIAA-CREF Workshop - May 23rd, Fidelity workshop - June 4th

TIAA-CREF will be conducting a workshop "Retirement Distribution Flexibilities" for individuals 3-5 years from retirement. It will be held on May 23, 2003 from 12 pm to 1 pm, Classroom 159, Level 3, HSC. 4. Defensive Driving Program Offered For UUP Employees And Their Immediate Family Members

A NYSUT sponsored Defensive Driving Program is being offered Wednesday, May 28, 2003 and Thursday, May 29, 2003 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the SAC Room 305 for all UUP employees and their immediate family members. 2. Department of Biochemistry & Cell Biology Stony Brook Symposium on Molecular Biology entitled The Structural Basis of Membrane Protein Function

The Stony Brook Symposium will be held from Monday June 2, 2003 to Tuesday June 3, 2003. Entitled The Structural Basis of Membrane Function in the Health Sciences Center Level 3, Lecture Hall 6. The following universities will be represented there, Rockefeller, UPenn, Cornell, NIH, Berkeley, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, University of Virginia, University of California, San Diego, Stanford, Harvard, and Yale. The USB Cat Network works to humanely trap, neuter, vaccinate, and care for the many feral cats that live on campus. Currently, we have a small number of young cats and soon-to-be-born, or newborn kittens caputured on campus that are friendly and available to good homes. 5. "Children Helping Children" 2 mile Walk-A-Thon

On June 1, 2003 St. James Elementary School will be hosting a 2 Mile Walk-A-Thon "Children Helping Children" to benefit the Sunrise Fund at Stony Brook. The goal is not only to raise funds but to raise awareness about childhood cancer. Rain date: June 8, 2003. On site registration begins at 8:00am and the walk starts at 9:00am. Some classes include membership so you can work on your own in our fine studios in addition to class time. Adobe Illustrator is the preferred program of designers, graphic artists, technical illustrators and business professionals around the world. It offers a combination of creative freedom and productivity to the users. Electric Rain Swift 3D is the most versatile tool for creating web-ready 3D animations for use with Macromedia Flash. Through the combination of an easy-to-use interface, the industry standard vector exporter and a full ray tracing rendering engine, Swift 3D quickly creates high-quality 3D animations. 4. Website Design Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0 NCE 328 - 6 sessions

Dreamweaver is the industry-standard website development software, supporting sophisticated functions such as JavaScript, Dynamic HTML, and CSS. This course will cover topics such as basic page creation, layout tables, frames v. no frames, how to edit HTML, internal FTP capabilities, and how to manage workflow. Students will explore the cross-application functions, such as incorporating Fireworks graphics and Flash buttons. Required Text: Macromedia Flash 5: Training from the SourceMacromedia
Flash is the professional standard for producing high-impact Web experiences. The focus is on creating animation for the World Wide Web. This course will guide students through the fundamentals of animation such as Flash drawing, story boarding, creating layers, key framing, character animation, and creating interactive animation. 5. Smoking And Periodontal (Gum) Disease



Are You a Smoker? Do you have Periodontal (Gum) Disease?
65 million people in the United States have some form of periodontal (gum) disease. Smoking is the greatest risk factor for periodontal disease, an often silent disease. Periodontal disease is a chronic, progressive inflammatory condition with no known cure. We are conducting a study to determine whether a tetracycline drug can reduce specific markers of inflammation, which can make it easier to control and treat periodontal disease.
People enrolled in the study will receive: Payment of up to $300.00, Free Dental Cleaning and Free Study Drug.

6. Availability of Biostatistical Consultation Services

The Biostatistical Consulting Core (BCC) within the Department of Preventive Medicine provides expert assistance and collaborations to researchers at every stage of a research project, including study design, grant proposal writing, data analysis and management, statistical reporting and interpretation. BCC is a fee-for-service facility. An initial one-hour free consultation is provided. After that, the rate depends on the size of the project and the level of statistical assistance needed. 7. Are You Depressed? We Can Help!

The Department of Psychology at SUNY Stony Brook is conducting up to a 6 month clinical trial involving medication with all participants and the addition of psychotherapy with some. Must be willing to travel up to two times a week for up to 3 months to the site and be available late afternoons. If you have been feeling depressed (sad, down) most of the time for at least two years, you may be eligible to participate. All evaluations and treatments will be provided free of charge. 2. Summer Camp at Stony Brook June 30 - August 22, 2003 632-4550

Stony Brook is pleased to present its fourth year of our fun-filled, action packed, computer savvy Summer Camp. The Camp combines a unique twist of educational activities and athletics for children between the ages of 5 -12.
