1. Deer Park Water Service
Governor Patterson recently issued Executive Order No. 18 mandating the phase out of State-funded expenditures for the purchase of bottled water by State agencies. In order to comply with the Governor's Executive Order, effective July 1, 2009 Stony Brook University will be eliminating the purchase of bottled water. The Procurement Office will coordinate the closing of Deer Park Water accounts and will arrange for the pick up of Deer Park equipment, supplies and remaining bottled water.

PDAR is a Lotus Notes application that assists and facilitates the job creation, review, approval, posting and advertisement requisition process. This electronic format eliminates five paper forms (SUSB37, Position Description, Ad Request, Ad Text and the first page of the SUSB68).After completing this interactive computer based training class, participants will be able to:
-Create and clone job requisitions/PDARs
-Create waiver forms
-Create advertisement requests
-Understand the uses of reclassification, promotion, increased duties, FAST TRACK
Utilize the Employment Tracking System (ETS)

2. The 11th Annual Cleft Palate Craniofacial Center Symposium
The Cleft Palate Craniofacial Center @ Stony Brook University Medical Center will host its annual Symposium on The Team Approach to the Management of Cleft Lip/Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies on Monday, March 2, 2009 on Level 2, Lecture Hall 1 from 8am - 12noon. We are offering both CME and CDE credits. A continental breakfast will be served. There is no charge for this symposium but registration is necessary. 1. Deadly Medicine, Creating The Master Race Exhibition, Now Open At The Charles B. Wang Center
From 1933 to 1945, Nazi Germany carried out a campaign to "cleanse" German society of individuals viewed as biological threats to the nation's "health." Enlisting the help of physicians and medically trained geneticists, psychiatrists, and anthropologists, the Nazis developed racial health policies that began with the mass sterilization of genetically diseased persons and ended with the near annihilation of European Jewry.
This self-guided exhibition is free and open to the public now through June 12th, 2009

Stony Brook Athletics provides quality overnight or full day sport programs directed by NCAA Division I SB Head Coaches. Each camper is given the opportunity to receive instruction from the top college players in the game today. 5. Group Fitness Class Summer Schedule
The Campus Recreation Group Fitness schedule is now available at www.recreation.sunysb.edu . Classes that are being offered include Total Body, Kripalu Yoga, Core Conditioning, Spinning, Cross Training, Reiki and Pilates. All classes are free for undergraduate students. Graduate Students, Faculty & Staff must purchase punch cards to participate. Group Fitness punch cards for the summer are now available for purchase at the Wellness Office located in the Student Activities Center, Room 225. There are three card options for purchase: Unlimited Summer Classes for $40.00, 10 Summer Classes for $30.00, and 4 Summer Classes for $16.00. 3. Knitting and Beaded Jewelry Making Classes
Learn how to create your own handmade jewelry in the Beaded Jewelry Workshop! This course will cover how to crimp, string, fasten findings and select materials used in beaded jewelry. This course offers and introduction to the most widely used database management program. An integral and powerful part of the Microsoft Office suite, Access aids budget managers, accountants, and office managers by efficiently organizing customer and inventory information.

5. Foundations of Accounting Methods
NCE 500 * six sessions * Fee: $595
This introduction to accounting demonstrates basic accounting fundamentals. Students will explore the recording, summarization and adjusting transactions and the understanding of the basic accounting cycle. Accounting principles and concepts, preparation of budgets and variance analysis will be demonstrated. Hands-on problem sets will be used to reinforce concepts relating to financial statements. At the completion of this course, students should have an understanding of accounting concepts and how they apply to current business situations.

2. Treatment Study for Behavioral Control Problems for Boys and Girls
Children 6 to 12 Years Old Stony Brook University’s Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is conducting a study supported by the National Institute of Health of treatment steps for children, ages 6 12, who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and other behavioral control problems such as aggressiveness, explosiveness and low frustration tolerance. Eligible children receive free evaluation and study treatment, including medication and help with behavioral support strategies.

5. Paid Research Opportunity on anxiety and brain functioning.
Are you a worrier? Are you always anxious? If you are between 18 - 65 years old and not currently taking antidepressants, you may be eligible to participate in a research study on anxiety and brain functioning. This study involves 1 lab visit (about 3 hours) for a clinical interview and an electroencephalogram (EEG) recording to look at your brain activity while performing a number of tasks and 1 phone interview 6 months later that lasts about 1 hour. 2. Al-Anon meeting at LI Veterans Home
Al-Anon Family Group meetings are being held on Mondays, 11:30am - 1pm in the East Pavilion Board Room at the LI Veteran's Home. Dubbed the Stony Brook Serenity Break, it is open to all family and friends of alcoholics, hoping to provide help and friendship to those affected by someone else's drinking. Anonymity is an extremely important part of this program, providing a safe environment for discussion of topics that will increase understanding and quality of life, especially in difficult circumstances.
