On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, we will be deleting all rosters from Winter, Spring, and Summer 2009 Blackboard courses.
If your course falls into either of the following categories, you MUST fill out a request form prior to November 18:
1. Does not follow the West Campus schedule
3. Courses that overlap semesters
3. You still have students completing incomplete grades
4. You have a pending dishonesty case with the Academic Judiciary

1. Allergy Diagnostic Unit Now Taking Appointments
Patients may request consultation for the Allergy Diagnostic Unit at 26 Research Way by calling 631-444-0580. Physicians may fax requests to 631-444-0562.
Asthma, food allergy, allergic rhinitis, contact dermatitis, conjunctivitis, inflammatory and immune respiratory disorders are diagnosed noninvasively at the Allergy Diagnostic Unit.

Is there help with resolving a disruptive and disturbing conflict with another faculty member, administrator or student? FERPA (Family Education Rights & Privacy Act) states the following regarding posting students grades:,"New York State law specifically bars the display of a student's social security or identification number in any public posting of grades, on class rosters or other lists provided to teachers, on student identification cards, and in student directories or similar listings. Accordingly, faculty and staff may not use student social security or University identification numbers - or any portion thereof - to post grades or provide other publicly accessible information."

10. The Mysteries of Microfilm Revealed!
Stony Brook Library contains over two million books, but did you know it also has over 4 million items on microfilm and related formats? Much of the material is unavailable on the internet or in online databases. Collections include historic newspapers from Long Island and around the world, 16th century documents from Spanish colonies in Mexico, pamphlets from the Women's Movement, underground papers from the 1960s, NASA reports, Four Centuries of Spanish and German Drama, and more! In this session learn: just what is microfilm anyway and if it is the same as microfiche, some of the interesting collections available at the library, how to locate microforms using STARS and print indexes & guides, how to find that exact roll of microfilm you want, and how to print from microfilm, microfiche and the other formats. This full day program will provide participants with necessary information, resources, and guidance about Federal and State regulations; University policies around issues of discrimination; equal employment opportunity complaint resolution and diversity. It will clarify and communicate the roles, rights and responsibilities of supervisors, managers, employees and the Office of Diversity and Affirmative Action in these matters. The program will review appropriate methods for making referrals, the scope of confidentiality and the policy against retaliation. Through the use of case studies and other interactive exercises, this program will allow participants to explore and discuss dimensions of diversity and inclusion, approaches to managing diversity, the impact of stereotyping and bias in the workplace. Each participant will develop a personal action plan.

The LISVH library can use magazines especially large print magazines such as Reader's Digest. Magazine subjects can include popular science, popular mechanics, automobile magazines, Smithsonian, Reader's Digest, etc.

The UUP Community Services Committee is conducting a winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves, and shoe drive for school-age children during October and November. 2. "Our Blue Planet: Will it Survive 'til Tomorrow?" A Musical for the Environment by the Japan Classic Live
In one of just a handful of US appearances -- the others for the UN and the Smithsonian -- Japan Classic Live For the United Nations, the ecologically focused international troupe that includes Japan's First Lady as a participant, will visit Stony Brook Southampton's Avram Theater at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. The performance is a blend of Japanese music and the music of Gershwin, Beethoven, Bach and Mozart; accompanied by a mix of traditional and modern dances of Japanese and western origin with over 50 performers. "Our Blue Planet -- Will It Survive Until Tomorrow" is a piece with elaborate song and dance numbers interspersed with serious messages about environmental disaster should we not take precautions today.

Treatment Study for Behavioral Control Problems for Boys and Girls 6 to 12 years old. Stony Brook University's Division of Children and Adolescent Psychiatry is conducting a study supported by the National Institute of Health of treatment steps for children, ages 6 to 12, who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and other behavioral control problems such as aggressiveness, explosiveness and low frustration tolerance. We are seeking patients diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease or Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
We are conducting a study to gather detailed information about how life experiences impact gastrointestinal symptoms.
What you can do to help:
To qualify you should be diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. You must be able to come to the research office at Stony Brook 1 time for a 3 hour period and be available for 2 telephone interviews following your study visit. Scheduling will be done at convenient times for you.

Al-Anon Family Group meetings are being held on Mondays, 11:30am - 1pm in the East Pavilion Board Room at the LI Veteran's Home.
