3. Revised Thresholds for Research Procurement
Please note that the Procurement thresholds related to the Bids and Proposals Policy for the Research Foundation of SUNY has been increased effective July 1, 2009.This will result in a better match with current SUNY thresholds.The required thresholds for competitive bids have been raised to $20,000.00.Please see the Procurement website for further information:

Managing Your Research Using Endnote: Basic Skills - Creating the bibliography is often the most tedious part of writing a research paper. Using EndNote X2, a bibliographic management software program, this task just became much easier. In this workshop learn: how to create an EndNote Library, how to download results from a literature search into EndNote,how to organize your EndNote Library, how to insert your references into a MS Word document and how to format your bibliography. This training will provide you with a step-by-step explanation of what the employer must do in order to meet legal and procedural responsibilities associated with the Form I-9. We will focus on how to correct common mistakes and omissions that delay the hiring process, and will provide answers to frequently asked questions regarding documentation.

2. Annual "Summer Soiree" to Benefit Pediatric MS Research, July 29th
The 4th Annual "Summer Soiree" presented by the National Pediatric MS (multiple sclerosis) Center at Stony Brook University Medical Center is an evening of music, dance and delectable dining to benefit pediatric research at the center. A portion of the event proceeds will also benefit the Team Adventure Camp Program, an annual summer camp program for teenagers with MS.
Live music performed by the popular "Big Shot", a Billy Joel tribute band, will highlight the event, which takes place at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, N.Y., on Wednesday, July 29.
Ticket price is $150 per person and includes a buffet, dance music, and a silent auction. Dress is casual. Sponsorships are available.

1. "The Last Cargo Cult," a monologue
Wednesday, July 22nd @ 7:30 p.m. Avram Theater. Created and performed by Mike Daisey, Directed by Jean-Michele Gregory. Groundbreaking monologist Mike Daisey tells the true-life story of his time on a remote South Pacific island where the inhabitants, who live at the base of a constantly erupting volcano, worship America.
Mike Daisey has been called "the master storyteller" and "one of the finest solo performers of his generation" by the New York Times for his groundbreaking monologues which weave together autobiography, gonzo journalism, and unscripted performance to tell hilarious and heartbreaking stories that cut to the bone, exposing secret histories and unexpected connections.

5. CSEA Local 614 Annual Picnic
C.S.E.A. Local 614 Annual Picnic Mark your calendars! C.S.E.A. Local 614 is having the Annual Picnic on August 1, 2009 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. It will be on campus grounds to accommodate all. The location will be at the Lower Practice Field 3, behind the Gymnasium. There will be food and beverage along with games, swimming, raffle prizes, music and more! 7. Campus Recreation Trip to Citi Field
The Department of Campus Recreation will be organizing a trip to Citi Field to see The New York Mets take on the Colorado Rockies, Wednesday July 29th @ 7:10pm. Departure Time will be 4:15 pm from the Sports Complex loading dock area. This trip is $10.00 for SBU undergraduate students who are registered for summer classes payable at the time of registration. (includes ticket and bus transportation) Tickets are available for graduate students/faculty/staff. Cost is $35.00 payable at the time of registration.
