Office copies of the 2001-02 Student Handbooks are now available
in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Limit
two (2) per office; exceptions made for special requests. Contact

2. Seawolves/Charles Gordon Heuser Memorial Golf Classic
Monday, July 30, 2001
Come join the athletic department for a beautiful day of golf,
food and fun at the 6th Annual Seawolves/Charles Gordon Heuser
Memorial Golf Classic presented by Coca-Cola. The Outing with
the blessing of Coca-Cola has been renamed the Charles Gordon
Heuser Memorial Golf Classic. This dedication is designed to
serve as a lasting tribute to Charles. Charles, is a cherished
member of the Universities family and son of Dr. Denise
Logan-Heuser (Class of ?77) and her husband Dr. David Heuser.
Golfing and sponsorship opportunities are still available. The
success of the outing depends upon participants and sponsorship
to help under-write the cost of the day?s events. All proceeds
from the outing will benefit the Charles Gordon Heuser Endowment
fund and the Athletic General Scholarship Fund.

3. 2001-02 Diversity Calendar Grant Program - $500 Monthly Awards
Available to Faculty, Student & Staff Groups!!
The Committee to Celebrate Diversity welcomes your participation
in the University?s Diversity Calendar Grant Program that
includes a monetary award of $500 to the program that is most
successful at fostering an understanding and appreciation of the
rich diversity present within the Stony Brook University
community. In order to have your event listed in an upcoming
Diversity Calendar and to be considered for the $500 grant

4. Tuition Waiver Submission
Applications for the B140W Tuition Waiver Program are available
in the Benefits Office, Administration Bldg, Room 390 for West
Campus and HSC state and research foundation employees. Please
call 2-6150 or email swhite@notes.cc.sunysb.edu for an
application. The completed application must be submitted to
Benefits by July 13, 2001.

5. Safety Awareness Days!
The Department of Environmental Health & Safety is sponsoring
'Safety Awareness Days' on June 19th (UH, Level 5) and 20th (SAC
Lobby), from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The program, which aims to increase
awareness of safety and health issues at work and in the home,
coincides with 'National Safety Month', an annual program
sponsored by the National Safety Council. According to the NSC's
publication Injury Facts 2000, unintentional injury deaths
totaled 96,600 in 1999. Motor vehicle crashes caused 41,300
deaths, 52,900 people died from unintentional injuries in the
home and in public places, and 5,100 died in the workplace.
Please visit the information tables and displays that will be
staffed by personnel from EH&S, Occupational Safety & Health
Administration (OSHA), Suffolk County Department of Health,
Cornell Cooperative Extension, and the American Industrial

6. Leave Donations Needed by UUP Employee
One of our UUP employees, Kathleen Czak-Malone, is in need of
leave donations due to illness. Any UUP, CSEA, PEF, MC13 or MC06
employee may donate vacation days towards this cause (please note
that sick leave accruals may not be donated). Vacation time must
be donated in full days and must leave the donor with a minimum
balance of 10 days after the donation. Employees who wish to
donate may contact Delma at Human Resources, Ext. 26186 or the
UUP office at Ext. 26570 to obtain the Leave Donation Form.
Completed forms should be sent to Human Resource Services,Leave
Donation Program, 390 Admin., Z=0751. Thank you!

7. New University Environmental, Health and Safety Policy
The University is committed to providing a safe and healthy
environment for the campus and the surrounding community. The
University-wide Environmental, Health and Safety Policy, P609R,
outlines the responsibilities for achieving this commitment. The
Department of Environmental Health and Safety provides guidance
and services to help achieve the goals and objectives of this
policy.
The Department of Environmental Health and Safety policies,
procedures and other useful information, including updates on
environmental auditing and EPA activities can be found on the web

The material safety data sheets (MSDSs) and other chemical safety

8. Aikido Class
Campus Recreation Department will be offering an Aikido Class
beginning July 10th. Class will be at 5:15pm on Tuesday/Thursday
evenings. Cost: $40.00 for all 11 sessions. Contact Susan

necessary!

T'ai Chi class offered by Campus Recreation beginning on July
