The Humanities Institute at Stony Brook presents "<t-utopia>" A
Performative Symposium on Technology and Utopia on Thursday and
Friday, February 22 and 23, 2001. In the long-anticipated 2001,

along with USB faculty will discuss her performance and her work
during a panel presentation, "Desiring Technology." The 1:30pm
panel "Digital Activism/Criticism" will ask if there is a
difference between the two, as well as what activism means in a
digital context.
Both events are free and open to the public. Seating for the
Stone performance is on a first-come basis. For more

Assessment Workshop @ CELT
February 27th , 2001
3:00- 5:00 @ CELT, Melville Library, E1337
Title: Understanding the Difference between Assessment and
Evaluation
Description:
As the role of assessment draws increased interest and attention
within the higher education community, there is the need to
distinguish assessment from evaluation and clear up
misconceptions that may exist. In this workshop, participants
explore both processes in detail, including examining key
similarities and differences. The resulting common basis of
understanding helps to avoid misinterpretations that can lead to
problems and provides the framework for viewing and enhancing
various components of a course. Participants also gain valuable
insights into why students react differently to different types
of feedback.
Any Questions please call Rita Reagan Redko 2-1057 or email
rreaganr@notes.cc.sunysb.edu.
