4. September is Celebration of Community Leadership Month!
Faculty, student, or staff groups wishing to submit programs or
events for inclusion on the September Diversity Calendar should
submit them electronically by August 15th at the website listed

The month of September is an opportunity to showcase our
diversity of leadership styles and community initiatives. Whether
as individuals or as groups, each of us can bring a unique style,
focus, and set of interests to our leadership and community
endeavors. Opportunities for leadership skills and community
development exist in every event, activity, or circumstance
(student clubs and organizations, academic/class related events,
spiritual/religious activities, student government, local
politics, community/volunteer service, etc.).
Program Suggestions: Stony Brook Welcome & Orientation Events,
Student Activism in the 21st Century, Leadership in Our Local
Communities, Leadership Styles and Gender Issues, etc.
For more information, contact Lisa Montgomery, Chair - Committee
to Celebrate Diversity (Office of Student Affairs).
