Keeping your Email Secure
One of the ways you keep your Notes account secure is by not sharing
your Notes passwords with ANYONE in or outside your department.
Computer accounts, passwords, and other types of authorization are
assigned to individual users and should not be shared with others,
including support personnel. Notes has two passwords, one for your
ID file when you access Notes from the Notes client (called the ID
password) and one when you access Notes through the Web (called the
Internet Password). If you know or suspect that someone else knows
your Notes passwords, you can easily change them by CAREFULLY
following the instructions on the Web page below:

Stony Brook Chorale Concert Saturday, April 28 at Staller Center
On Saturday, April 28th, the Stony Book Chorale will perform at 8:00
p.m. in the Recital Hall at the Staller Center for the Arts. The
concert will feature two lesser-known gems of the choral repertoire:
Antonio Vivaldi's Magnificat and Josef Rheinberger's Stabat Mater.
While many are familiar with Vivaldi's Gloria, the Magnificat is an
equally charming work. Josef Rheinberger was a contemporary of Brahms
and his Stabat Mater is irresistably lush. Other works on the program
include Beethoven's Elegischer Gesang and folk songs by Bela Bartok.
Admission to the concert is $6 general admission and $3 for students
and seniors. Tickets are available at the Staller Center box office:
(631) 632-ARTS. For more information, contact the Music department at

"Working Class into the Curriculum"
A special workshop sponsored by Group for the Study of Working
Class Life and CELT.
What are the links between our students' writing and their
consciousness of class difference? How do we use discussion of
work/jobs as a route to class analysis?
Professor Janet Zandy, a nationally respected scholar and
practioner of working-class pedagogy, will present a model essay
that links photography, personal memory, commentary on Workers
Memorial Day (April 28 )and literary analysis about
representations of the physicality of labor. One of the hardest
things student writers face is synthesizing material. This essay
approach demonstrates a way to link the personal with the
historical and with cultural representations.
