1. Software Requests For Sinc Sites For Spring 2008 Due By: Monday January 7th.
If you would like to have a particular software package installed in the SINC Sites so that you can use it with your class, TLT must have the software in our possession no later than January 7th.
Before we can guarantee that a software package will be installed on our machines, we must be sure that the software:
- Is licensed for each machine
- Does not interfere with any software that we must have on our machines (this includes security holes)
- Can be installed within the current disk space
- Will work in a Windows multi-user guest environment.

1. Sweet Dreams - An Evening of Chocolate Indulgence to benefit the Cody Center
Join us for the 5th year of Sweet Dreams on Monday, January 28, 2008 at 6:00 PM. Watermill Caterers of Smithtown will once again host an evening filled with cocktails, poured champagne, caviar samplings, passed hors’doeuvres, and an exquisite buffet of carving stations. After the reception, guests will experience the delectable "Fairy Tale" chocolate displays, each prepared by top Long Island restaurants and pastry chefs. Ballot boxes let you to vote for your favorite creation. Each display features tasting samples which can also be piled into a box to go available for only $20.

3. Exploring Macromedia FLASH 8
NCE 329 - 12 sessions - Fee: $629
Macromedia Flash is the professional standard for producing high-impact Web experiences. The focus is on creating animation for the Web. This course will guide students through the fundamentals of animation such as Flash drawing, story boarding, creating layers, key framing, character animation, and creating interactive animation. Students will have a thorough understanding of Flash basics, plus the know-how to build Flash projects incorporating sound, interactivity, and engaging animations.
Required Text: Macromedia Flash MX for Windows and Macintosh: A Visual Quickstart Guide by Katherine Ulrich, retail: $24.99. Cost of text is not included in course fee. Students must bring textbook to the first class meeting.

Professional artists, amateur photographers and Web novices should know the fundamentals of Photoshop,

Looking for Healthy Adults between 18 and 65 years of age, non-smoker or 5 years smoke free to participate in a research study on the safety and tolerability of Poly-MVA (Minerals, Vitamins, Amino acids) over a 9-15 week period.

Simply by Donating a Sample of Blood. We are seeking to identify new cancer markers in blood, tissue, and body fluids. This may allow us to develop laboratory tests which can diagnose cancers earlier and/or identify patients who are at risk for a poor outcome and who may benefit from more aggressive therapy than is normally recommended. 5. Seeking Volunteers With A History Of Asthma
18 to 65 years of age, 10 years smoke free taking a steroid inhaler daily for the past 6 months to participate in an 8 week study on the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation on asthma. You will be taught mindfulness meditation techniques such as sitting meditation, body scan meditation, walking meditation. Compensation of up to $100 will be paid upon your completion of this study

7. Dupuytren’s Contracture
The Department of Orthopaedics, State University of New York, Stony Brook is seeking volunteers to take part in a clinical trial in Dupuytren’s contracture, a fixed flexion deformity of the fingers. Participants must be at least 18 years of age, of either gender, have a clinical diagnosis of Dupuytren’s contracture and be in relatively good health with no known recent history of stroke, bleeding, or other medical condition which would make the person unsuitable for enrollment.
The prospective participant must not have received treatment for this disorder, including surgery, within 90 days of the study.

9. How well do Your Lungs Work?
We are studying both overweight and normal weight participants. Are you a never smoker?
If you have no known lung problems, the Division of Pulmonary Medicine at Stony Brook Hospital would like to invite you to consider entering an investigational study of aerosol deposition. The research project is being performed to investigate the pattern of particle deposition in the lungs of patients who are overweight and comparing to the pattern in normal weight people. 2. Winter Intersession Fitness Class Schedule January 2 - January 24, 2008
All classes will take place in the SAC Lower Level Fitness and Spinning Studios. Undergraduate students can participate for free.
