1. Lawson Training for the month of July

Lawson Requisition Training Classes will be held on a weekly basis, to see available dates please click on the calendar link: http://uhmc-iweb1.uhmc.sunysb.edu/lawsonsupport/index_files/Page909.htm.
All classes will be held in the Lawson Training Room #797, Level One, right next to the Blue Elevators. To schedule for any of these classes please contact Michele Thomas, Lawson Support Specialist, Ext. 4-7805. There will be 2 parts covered in these classes, the first half will cover ordering from any of the Storerooms in the Hospital and the second half will cover ordering from an outside Vendor. I suggest that all new hospital employees and/or if you are interested in taking a refresher course, please contact us to attend one of these classes.

This free series provides a convenient opportunity for human resource managers, compliance officers, disability and diversity managers, and other professionals to discover ways to enhance an organization's ability to improve its personnel infrastructure, including effective ways to accommodate and employ people with disabilities. 2. Department of Campus Recreation Summer Kayaking Trips

The Department of Campus Recreation will be organizing 3 kayaking trips in Port Jefferson Harbor this summer. The dates are as follows:
1. Friday, June 15th @ 10:30am
2. Friday July 13th @ 10:30am
3. Monday, August 8 10:30am
(Please note time may vary due to tide schedule). Registration Fee is $25.00 per person/trip which includes kayak rental and lunch. Undergraduate students registered for summer classes are free. This trip is for beginner/intermediate kayakers in good health and will be approximately 4 to 5 hours in length. Only students, faculty & staff of the University are eligible to participate. Registration is limited to 16 participants per each trip. For more information, please contact David Hairston at 632-7120.

5. C.S.E.A. Local 614 Men’s Committee Fishing Trip

Come join the fun and climb aboard the new Rosie and enjoy a fishing day excursion! The Men’s Committee is hosting a Fishing Trip on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Center Yacht Club, Center Moriches, NY. 6. 2007 Chuck Priore W.I.N. Youth Football Camp

Are you ready for some football! The Chuck Priore W.I.N. Youth Football Camp is open to all students ages 7 13. It is our goal at the Chuck Priore Football Camp to improve a young man's performance on the football field through quality individual instruction. Under the guidance of Head Coach Chuck Priore and the Seawolves Football Staff, each young man will learn sound football fundamentals. The cost is $395.00 per athlete. The fee includes instruction, lectures, demonstrations, Lunch and a camp T-shirt. A 10% discount on tuition is given to all Stony Brook staff members. 7. Summer 2007 Stony Brook University Football Camps

Are you ready for some football!
1. Intensive 2-day padded football camp for all positions. Every athlete will experience 2 days of individual, intensified coaching incorporating highly organized teaching progressions. This is open to all athletes entering 9th through 12th grade and runs July 21st - July 22nd. Cost: $250.00/Overnight Campers, $200/2-Day Campers and $125/1-Day Campers. OR:
2. Chuck Priore W.I.N. Youth Football Camp, open to students ages 7-13. The goal is to improve field performance through quality individual instruction under the guidance of Head Coach Chuck Priore and staff, each athlete will learn sound football fundamentals. This week long daycamp runs July 23rd - July 27th. Cost: $395.00/athlete.

The Empire Safety Council Accident Prevention Workshop which emphasizes traffic safety awareness is proven to reduce both accidents and traffic citations. 1. Herpes Vaccine Study

Did you know that 1 out of 4 women have Genital Herpes? and 90% of those who have it, don't know they do! Volunteer women needed.
Confidentiality maintained. If you are a women between the ages of 18-30,you may be eligible to participate in a Clinical Research Study at Stony Brook University Medical Center. A blood test will be done for detection,and if you qualify,you may receive an experimental vaccination which could protect you from Genital Herpes at no cost to you. 8. Levothyroxine Study

The General Clinical Research Center at Stony Brook University Hospital seeks healthy individuals ages 18-40 to participate in a research study on the
absorption of Levothyroxine, a thyroid hormone, when co-administered with other medications.

10. Volunteers needed Children ages 6-17: MRI Study of Flow in the Brain and Spine

Volunteers are needed to participate in an MRI study to investigate new methods for imaging flow patterns of blood and cerebrospinal fluid in the brain and spine. The goal of the study is to understand flow patterns in healthy individuals in order to compare these results with the abnormal flow patterns seen in individuals with diseases such as hydrocephalus and spinal cysts. Because these diseases are common in children, we are seeking healthy children with no previous history of head or spine trauma, neurological disease, or contraindication for an MRI, as a control group for our study. The study will involve 1 hour of your time and be completely non-invasive. No injections will be given. Subjects will be given a twenty-five dollar ($25) gift certificate to Border’s Bookstore for participating.
