2. Parking Validation Books

Effective 7-1-07, purchase orders for parking garage validation booklets will no longer be issued to the Stony Brook Foundation (SBF). Purchases of validation booklets will be handled via Material & Services Requisitions for payments from State & IFR accounts. Purchases that will be paid by Research Accounts or Affiliates, will still require the issuance of a purchase order made out to IFR account 900917 (Parking Garages).

2. Heartsaver CPR with AED Certification

Learn basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on the adult victim; chain of survival, recognition of cardiac emergencies. This is a certification course - Cost $10 for Card from American Heart Association.

2. The ADA at 17: What's Happening with Title I?

Disability Support Services is sponsoring the JAN 2007 Accommodation and Compliance Web Training Series. This free series provides a convenient opportunity for human resource managers, compliance officers, disability and diversity managers, and other professionals to discover ways to enhance an organization's ability to improve its personnel infrastructure, including effective ways to accommodate and employ people with disabilities. 1. The Paul Simons Memorial Bike Ride

The Paul Simons Foundation will be sponsoring the 1st Annual Memorial Bike Ride on Sunday, July 15, 2007 - 8:00 a.m. registration, 9:00 a.m. start time. Please join us for a bike ride which will encompass 4.5 miles of the West Campus, starting at the SAC Loop. You may choose to do the route twice for a total of 9 miles. 1. Department of Campus Recreation Outdoor 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

The Department of Campus Recreation will host a 3 on 3 Outdoor Summer Basketball Tournament on July 18th. The registration deadline is on July 17th. Games will be played from 5:30pm - 8:00pm. Teams will consist of at least 3 people with a maximum of 5 people on each roster. Registration Fee is $40.00/team. Undergraduate students participate for free. Only students, faculty & staff of the University are eligible to participate. For more information, please contact David Hairston at 632-7120.

2. C.S.E.A. Local 614 Men’s Committee Fishing Trip

Come join the fun and climb aboard the new Rosie and enjoy a fishing day excursion! The Men’s Committee is hosting a Fishing Trip on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Center Yacht Club, Center Moriches, NY. The cost of $30.00 includes the fishing rod and tackle as well as Food and Drinks! Boat departs at 7:00am to 11:00am. The price is unbeatable! 3. Department of Campus Recreation Summer Kayaking Trips

The Department of Campus Recreation will be organizing 3 kayaking trips in Port Jefferson Harbor this summer. The dates are as follows:
1. Friday, June 15th @ 10:30am
2. Friday July 13th @ 10:30am
3. Monday, August 8 10:30am
(Please note time may vary due to tide schedule). Registration Fee is $25.00 per person/trip which includes kayak rental and lunch. Undergraduate students registered for summer classes are free. This trip is for beginner/intermediate kayakers in good health and will be approximately 4 to 5 hours in length. Only students, faculty & staff of the University are eligible to participate. Registration is limited to 16 participants per each trip. For more information, please contact David Hairston at 632-7120.

4. Steve Pikiell Basketball Camp at Stony Brook University

Steve Pikiell and the entire Stony Brook Men's Basketall Staff is running 3 sessions of basketball camp this summer for boys ages 8-16. These three weeks are "Session I" Monday July 2-Friday July 6(There will be no camp Wednesday July 4th), "Session II" Monday July 9-Friday July 13, and "Session III" Monday July 23-Friday July 27. All 3 sessions will run 9 am to 4 pm. The cost of Session I will be $250 and the cost of Sessions II and II will be $300. Any Stony Brook employee will be entitled to a 10% discount. 2. Summer Ikebana Flower Arrangement

Ikebana is the unique art of Japanese flower arrangement. Using design elements such as line, volume and accent students will create two types of arrangements (line and freestyle) constructed from living branches,leaves, grasses and flowers. Bring to class vases or plant containers (one high and one low) and clippers.

4. Summer Digital Photography

A beginners course in using a digital camera to create and optimize your photography. Students will learn the basic functions and meanings of the various technical specifications of their personal digital camera. The class will explore how to compose and adjust for optimal image quality and beauty via demonstrations, examples and hands on practice. Bring your camera to class.

3. Study of Insulin Sensitivity in Patients with HIV+ and/or AIDS

The General Clinical Research Center of Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking volunteers 18 years of age and older with a diagnosis of HIV+
and/or AIDS to participate in a study researching insulin sensitivity in HIV (leading to diabetes) and possibly fat distribution (HIV Lipodystrophy).
