1. It's time to renew your library material.

Faculty, Management Confidential, Emeritus and Professional staff who currently have borrowed library material from the Main, Music and/or the Science/Engineering Library, with a due date of May 15, 2007 are urged to renew at this time. The new due date, after properly renewing, will be Dec. 21, 2007.
For information on how to renew online via STARS/OPAC, please go to the URL.
To renew in person, please present your ID card to service desk staff. It is not necessary to bring the material into the library in order to have them renewed. There are no phone renewals. There is a three time renewal limit per book. Thank you.

2. Lawson Training

Lawson Requisition Training Classes will be held on a weekly basis, to see available dates please click on the calendar link: http://uhmc-iweb1.uhmc.sunysb.edu/lawsonsupport/index_files/Page909.htm.
All classes will be held in the Lawson Training Room #797, Level One, right next to the Blue Elevators. To schedule for any of these classes please contact Michele Thomas, Lawson Support Specialist, Ext. 4-7805. There will be 2 parts covered in these classes, the first half will cover ordering from any of the Storerooms in the Hospital and the second half will cover ordering from an outside Vendor. I suggest that all new hospital employees and/or if you are interested in taking a refresher course, please contact us to attend one of these classes.

3. EAP Lunchtime Learning-Labyrinth Walking: Pathway to Stress Management and Improved Performance

Take a break from the stress of modern life by going back a few thousand years. People are discovering anew that walking the concentric circles of ancient labyrinths can create inner peace and healing. EAP invites you to join Labyrinth Builder, Ed O'Connell, for a refreshing introduction to the Red Dragon Labyrinth as a walking meditation practice.
Take road that leads to SB Union loading dock (East side) and follow path on the RHS that would bring you between Gray and Irving/O'Neil. Labyrinth located in front of Woods facing Wang Center. Look for Red Dragon sign marker and the 7 big circles made out of red chips.

entitled Dynamic Cycling of O-GlcNAc: Roles in Signaling, Transcription, Diabetes and
Alzheimer’s Disease on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. The lecture is sponsored by the
Institute for Cell and Developmental Biology and the Department of Biochemistry and Cell

2. Department of Campus Recreation Summer Kayaking Trips

The Department of Campus Recreation will be organizing 3 kayaking trips in Port Jefferson Harbor this summer. The dates are as follows:
1. Friday, June 15th @ 10:30am
2. Friday July 13th @ 10:30am
3. Monday, August 8 10:30am
(Please note time may vary due to tide schedule). Registration Fee is $25.00 per person/trip which includes kayak rental and lunch. Undergraduate students registered for summer classes are free. This trip is for beginner/intermediate kayakers in good health and will be approximately 4 to 5 hours in length. Only students, faculty & staff of the University are eligible to participate. 3. Campus Recreation Coed Summer Softball League Now Forming

The Department of Campus Recreation Coed Summer Softball League is now forming. Registration Deadline is June 4th. League will run from June 7th Aug. 14th. Games will be played at 5:30pm & 6:45pm on Tues &/or Thurs nights. Teams will consist of at least nine people (4 women minimum) on the field at all times. Registration Fee is $200.00/team. 5. 2007 Chuck Priore W.I.N. Youth Football Camp

Are you ready for some football! The Chuck Priore W.I.N. Youth Football Camp is open to all students ages 7 13. It is our goal at the Chuck Priore Football Camp to improve a young man's performance on the football field through quality individual instruction. Under the guidance of Head Coach Chuck Priore and the Seawolves Football Staff, each young man will learn sound football fundamentals. The cost is $395.00 per athlete. The fee includes instruction, lectures, demonstrations, Lunch and a camp T-shirt. A 10% discount on tuition is given to all Stony Brook staff members. Weight Watchers at Work NEW progarm sign-up is scheduled for Tuesday June 5. This is a 10 week program beginning on June 12, cost is $109.00 payable at sign-up. Weight Watchers needs 15 people to run this program in the hospital. Sign-up and meetings are held in HSC level 2 conference room 2-408 located in the School of Health Management and Technology from 12:30 - 1:30 PM. This is considered a lunch meeting. The Empire Safety Council Accident Prevention Workshop which emphasizes traffic safety awareness is proven to reduce both accidents and traffic citations. Your attitudes and behaviors affect the way you drive. Learn to be a defensive driver and save 10% on your auto insurance (liability and collision) and reduce up to four points on your driving record. This is a six hour course.

1. Herpes Vaccine Study

Did you know that 1 out of 4 women have Genital Herpes? and 90% of those who have it, don't know they do! Volunteer women needed.
Confidentiality maintained. If you are a women between the ages of 18-30,you may be eligible to participate in a Clinical Research Study at Stony Brook University Medical Center. A blood test will be done for detection,and if you qualify,you may receive an experimental vaccination which could protect you from Genital Herpes at no cost to you. 3. Cold Spring Harbor Protocols Free Trial extended for 3 more months

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols is a definitive, interactive source of new and classic research techniques. The database is fully searchable by keyword and subject, and it has many novel features such as discussion forums and personal folders made possible by online publication. Its coverage includes cell and molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, protein science, and imaging. Protocols are presented step-by-step and edited in the style that has made Molecular Cloning, Antibodies, Cells and many other CSH manuals essential to the work of scientists worldwide. Protocols will be continuously expanded, updated, and annotated by the originators and users of the techniques.
Cold Spring Harbor Protocols can be accessed directly from the Databases list of the Health Sciences Library Website . 4. Summer 2007 Stony Brook University Football Camps

Are you ready for some football!
1. Intensive 2-day padded football camp for all positions. Every athlete will experience 2 days of individual, intensified coaching incorporating highly organized teaching progressions. This is open to all athletes entering 9th through 12th grade and runs July 21st - July 22nd. Cost: $250.00/Overnight Campers, $200/2-Day Campers and $125/1-Day Campers. OR:
2. Chuck Priore W.I.N. Youth Football Camp, open to students ages 7-13. The goal is to improve field performance through quality individual instruction under the guidance of Head Coach Chuck Priore and staff, each athlete will learn sound football fundamentals. This week long daycamp runs July 23rd - July 27th.
