1. Tutor Training Workshop (Stony Brook Adult Literacy Center)

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer Tutor? The Stony Brook Adult Literacy Center is in need of volunteers to provide tutoring in basic skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing English). We provide tutoring services for adults who are at least 16 years of age and out of school, read and write at or below the sixth grade level, need to improve their basic English conversation skills and understanding of American culture.
Volunteers will attend a workshop here on campus that will prepare them for becoming a tutor.

1. Stony Brook University Spring Blood Drives - June 22nd - 23rd

Announcing Stony Brook's Next Blood Drives! The drives will be held in SAC Ballroom A from 12:00pm to 5:30pm on Tuesday, June 22nd and Wednesday, June 23rd. Last year Stony Brook donated almost 2200 pints of blood, help us beat our record this year! So bring a friend and come join us in this life-saving venture. 2. Help stem the population of feral cats on campus

The SBU Cat Network works to humanely trap, neuter, vaccinate, and care for the many feral cats that live on campus. Capturing kittens at this time of year often means they can be socialized and placed in homes. Capturing older cats means they can be spayed/neutered to avoid the birth of more cats who must fend for themselves outside. 4. Faculty and Staff Welcome Wagon Volunteers for Opening 2004

Welcome Wagon Fall 2004, August 27, 2004
The Division of Campus Residences invites you to be a part of Welcome Wagon 2004
The Welcome Wagon program is designed to welcome the incoming class of first year students who will move onto campus on Friday, August 27, 2004 between 9 am and 3 pm. Over 300 student volunteers will welcome the first year students, answer their questions, and assist them in moving their belongings into the residence halls.
We are actively seeking the participation of faculty and staff in this effort. In the past, faculty and staff who have volunteered have been particularly helpful in answering questions and providing information to students, parents, and family members.
Faculty/Staff who wish to volunteer may select a location and number of hours they wish participate.

GIFT for KIDS is a FREE support, educational and entertainment program for children of breast cancer patients. 1. 2004 Stony Brook Girls Soccer Camp - July 19th to 23rd

The Stony Brook Women's Soccer Staff and Team would like to invite girls between the ages of 7 and 16 to their summer soccer camp. There will be two sessions that will run the week of July 19th to 23rd. The day session will run from 9:00am to 3:30pm for players between the ages of 7 to 16. The evening session will run from 4:30pm to 7:30pm for players between the ages of 11 and 16. We have three separate programs to meet the needs of players of all ages and abilities. The players will have two training sessions per day as well as one small-sided and one full-sided game, daily. The players will receive a camp T-shirt and an official SBU soccer ball. 2. Campus Recreation Coed Volleyball Tournament

The Department of Campus Recreation is now accepting registration for our one-day Coed Volleyball Tournament to be held on Tuesday, July 20th in the Pritchard Gymnasium. Teams will consist of at least six players (minimum 3 women) on the court at all times. Tournament will run from 5:15pm - 8:30pm. Registration Fee is $80.00/team. All games will be played in one night. Registration deadline is July 16th. Only students, faculty & staff of the University are eligible participate. 3. Campus Recreation Badminton Tournament

The Department of Campus Recreation is now accepting registration for our one-day Badminton (Singles) Tournament to be held on Tuesday, June 22nd. Tournament will run from 5:15pm - 8:30pm in the Pritchard Gymnasium. Registration Fee is $10.00. All games will be played in one night. Registration deadline is June 18th. 4. 2004 Summer Girls Lacrosse Clinic Series

The Seawolves Women's Lacrosse Team is offering 3 Girls Lacrosse Clinics this summer on July 1, July 22, August 11, 2004 from 3:45- 8:00 PM. SB faculty and staff will receive a $10.00 discount. The Seawolves Girls Lacrosse Clinics are designed specifically for girls and young women who want to take their game to the next level. Staffed by experienced coaches who are familiar with the women's game on the collegiate level, the clinics combine basic and advanced skill instruction, offensive and defensive strategies, and game experiences to help players put it all together. Film passes for $45 assure entry to 11 days of films and a Panel Discussion, "A Filmmaker and Distributor's Journey," on Saturday, July 24 at 3:00 pm. The Empire Safety Council Accident Prevention Workshop emphasizing traffic safety awareness, which is proven to reduce both accidents and traffic citations. Your attitudes and behaviors affect the way you drive. 1. Free Help For Mothers Of 2-3 Year Olds

The Point of Woods Laboratory and Parenting Clinic at Stony Brook University is seeking volunteers for a research study that offers free help for mothers who are having difficulty managing their challenging 2-3 year old toddlers. 2. Are You Depressed? We Can Help!

The Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University is conducting up to a 6 month clinical trial involving medication with all participants and the addition of psychotherapy with some. Must be willing to travel up to two times a week for up to 3 months to the site and be available late afternoons/early evenings. If you have been feeling depressed (sad, down) most of the time for at least two years, you may be eligible to participate. All evaluations and treatments will be provided free of charge. The Oncology Nurse from Stony Brook University Hospital's Cancer Helpline will be available in person to answer cancer questions at The Community Resource Center located in the Stony Brook Village on 06/23/04 from 12:00 noon till 2:00-PM. This is an opportunity to have cancer questions answered and to obtain cancer related information.
