The deadline for Research Foundation and State employees on West Campus/HSC to submit a B140w tuition waiver form for consideration in the Fall semester is July 21,2004. Please check the HRS website under News and Events for information about obtaining a waiver.

2. Additional Services from DHL

DHL Express Inc has added a 10:30 a.m. delivery service for an additional charge of fifty cents ($.50) over the contract price. 02. Hosp/HSC Admin Announcements

1. Master Of Public Health Program - Founding Class, Fall 2004

Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center is pleased to announce the Graduate Program in Public Health's new Master of Public Health Program, which will begin this Fall. Applications are now being accepted. The deadline for applications is July 15th. 2. New WIC Program in the Department of Family Medicine

WIC is a supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children. Women must be pregnant, breastfeeding (up to 1 year) or postpartum (up to 6 months) and children must be under the age of 5. The program's goal is to provide nutrition education and WIC checks to participants in order to purchase specific WIC foods. WIC foods include infant cereal and formula, milk, juice, eggs, cheese, cereal, beans, peanut butter, carrots and tuna fish. All participants must meet income guidelines (185% of the poverty level) or be enrolled in an adjunctive eligible program such as Medicaid, TANF, Head Start, free/reduced school lunch, etc. Please call the WIC program for more information @ 444-5239.

1. Tutor Training Workshop (Stony Brook Adult Literacy Center)

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer Tutor? The Stony Brook Adult Literacy Center is in need of volunteers to provide tutoring in basic skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing English). We provide tutoring services for adults who are at least 16 years of age and out of school, read and write at or below the sixth grade level, need to improve their basic English conversation skills and understanding of American culture.
Volunteers will attend a workshop here on campus that will prepare them for becoming a tutor.

2. HRS Training and Organizational Development presents "Putting Training to Work For You!"

Putting Training to Work For You! August 10, 2004, 9:30AM-12:00PM, Presented by Kevin C. Hauss, Manager, Training & Organizational Development, Human Resource Services
This program is geared for supervisors and managers. It includes the following:
A) Establishing your role in the process and actions you can take before sending your employee to training.
B) Preparing staff members for classes they are scheduled to attend.
C) Strategies for reinforcing, following up and encouraging the use of skills your members learned or enhanced at a class.
D) Continuing the staff development process on-the-job.
E) How to use retreats for: 1) Development of staff and department as a whole, 2) Reward/Recognition, and 3) Enjoyment
F) The strategy of integrating Development Plans into Performance Programs.
G) Mapping out timing element to "Make Time For Training".
H) Discussion of overall benefits of training to department and staff.

4. Psychiatry and Personality Conference at Sony Brook University

Stony Brook will host a Conference on Biological Basis of Personality and Individual Differences, 8/13-15, here on campus. Seating is limited. Register by July 12th for discounts on the conference and hotels. Open to all.

1. Campus Recreation Coed Volleyball Tournament

The Department of Campus Recreation is now accepting registration for our one-day Coed Volleyball Tournament to be held on Tuesday, July 20th in the Pritchard Gymnasium. Teams will consist of at least six players (minimum 3 women) on the court at all times. Tournament will run from 5:15pm - 8:30pm. Registration Fee is $80.00/team. All games will be played in one night. Registration deadline is July 16th. Only students, faculty & staff of the University are eligible participate. The Seawolves Women's Lacrosse Team is offering 3 Girls Lacrosse Clinics this summer on July 1, July 22, August 11, 2004 from 3:45- 8:00 PM. SB faculty and staff will receive a $10.00 discount. The Seawolves Girls Lacrosse Clinics are designed specifically for girls and young women who want to take their game to the next level. Staffed by experienced coaches who are familiar with the women's game on the collegiate level, the clinics combine basic and advanced skill instruction, offensive and defensive strategies, and game experiences to help players put it all together. 2. Summer Session II Registration Continues

Students may continue to register online for Summer Session II classes until July 11, on a space-available basis. Rising high school seniors who have grade point averages of 85 or higher may take one 100-level course in Session II, which runs from July 12 to August 20. 3. Defensive Driving Class Offered in July

The Empire Safety Council Accident Prevention Workshop emphasizing traffic safety awareness, which is proven to reduce both accidents and traffic citations. Your attitudes and behaviors affect the way you drive. Learn to be a defensive driver and save 10% on your auto insurance (liability and collision) and reduce up to four points on your driving record. This is a six hour course. Two Wednesdays, 7/14 and 7/21, 5:30pm - 8:30pm; Student Activities Center, room 303. Attention to All users of the Sports Complex General Locker Rooms:
You must remove all locks and locker contents between August 1st- August 15th for routine cleaning of all lockers. Your lock and contents must be removed during these dates or will result in locks being cut and contents being discarded.
